Roman blinds typically have several fabric panels that can be raised or lowered to control the amount of light and privacy in a room by use of a drawstring. When the panels are raised, they stack on top of each other, allowing more light into the room. When the panels are lowered, they create a more private space. They can also be motorised.

Roman blinds are named after the Roman shades that were popularised during the Renaissance in Italy. They were made from heavy fabrics that were draped over rods or frames and could be pulled up or down to adjust the amount of light entering a room. The Roman blinds of today are much lighter and easier to operate, but they still give you the same level of light control as their heavier predecessors.

Roman blinds can be vacuumed with a soft brush attachment to remove dust and dirt. If they need a deeper clean, they can be spot-cleaned with a mild soap and water solution. We don't recommend putting Roman blinds in the washing machine, as this could damage the fabric or the mechanism.
